The terms for creating an account and booking lessons.

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you create an account on this site or book a lesson with Sylvia Tziortzis. By creating an account you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on the student’s behalf.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date in My details.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for bookings made from your account.
  • One account per student.

3. Booking lessons

  • Lessons are one hour, one-to-one, at the times shown on the site. All times are Sydney time.
  • When you choose a time it is held for 30 minutes while you pay. If payment isn’t completed in that time, the hold ends and the time becomes available to others.
  • A lesson is confirmed once payment is received. You can see all your lessons in My lessons.
  • You can hold at most two unpaid lessons at a time, and restart payment for a held lesson at most twice.
  • If you cancel or don’t pay for three bookings within 24 hours, you’ll need to wait before holding another time.

4. Online and in-person lessons

  • Online lessons run over Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You need a device with a working camera, microphone and internet connection.
  • For in-person lessons you give the lesson address when booking. Make sure it is correct and that the student is in a safe, quiet space. For students under 18, a parent or guardian should be at home during the lesson.
  • If a lesson can’t go ahead at the address given, contact us using the contact details on the home page as early as possible.

5. Prices, payment and discount codes

  • Prices are shown in Australian dollars before you pay. The price at the time you book is the price you pay; later price changes don’t affect booked lessons.
  • Payment is by card through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Discount codes are issued by the tutor, may have an end date or a limited number of uses, and can’t be exchanged for cash.

6. Changes, cancellations and refunds

How to move or cancel a lesson, and when refunds are given, is set out in our Cancellations & refunds policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. Conduct

Everyone involved in a lesson is expected to be respectful. We may decline or end a lesson, or close an account, if behaviour is abusive or unsafe. Lesson materials are for the student’s own study and may not be shared or sold.

8. Our responsibility to you

We teach every lesson with due care and skill, but we can’t guarantee particular marks or results. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any lesson is limited to supplying the lesson again or refunding what you paid for it.

9. General

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and changes don’t affect lessons already paid for. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales.
